Spa Day & Dining Out on WHOLE30 – Day 8

Guys, I feel flippin’ fantastic!

Seriously. I really feel amazing.

Along with all of the changes I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I’m experiencing, I noticed today that all of the little bumps/pimples on my cheeks are no longer there.

These are bumps that have been driving me nuts for months.

Boom! Just like that, in 8 days… they’re gone.

Today was a really great day. And for it being International Women’s Day, I got to spend it with two of my favorite women, my mom and my sister.

To celebrate my mom’s birthday, which was yesterday, we made plans to go to the spa so each of us could get a treatment and relax.

Before heading out to meet them, I made Matt and myself a nice, hearty breakfast. I knew I wasn’t going to be eating until later!Breakfast (10:45am): Scrambled eggs with chopped onion and spinach. On the side, a steamed sweet potato (5 minutes in the microwave), cut up and pan fried in olive oil. 🤤

It was so satisfying. I stayed full for hours!


Around 1pm, my mom, sister and I all met at the spa. I got myself a neck, shoulder, back massage.

It felt amazing and the masseuse said I actually really needed it. Who knew!

My mom got a longer massage, so I got to chill and sip some chamomile tea in a cozy robe and slippers next to a fireplace. Heaven. Or at least it was heaven until 4 middle aged women came into the “sanctuary” where everyone’s supposed to be “quiet”, because it’s a “quiet space”.

They. Were. Not. Quiet. 😠

In fact, I learned that one of them wants a tattoo “the size of a finger nail” because she doesn’t want anyone to see it… 🤔

One has a turtle that hasn’t been out of its tank since last May, therefore the tank hasn’t been cleaned (her words, not mine)…

And another kept saying she desperately needs to lose 5 lbs before her trip to Florida. 🙄

I suddenly got very unrelaxed.

And super concerned for that turtle. 🐢

I got my tush up and walked out of the room, got dressed, and went to find my sister who was getting a pedicure. Once we were all done and pampered, we went out for a late lunch.


Lunch (3:45pm): We went to one of our favorite restaurants down the street called Monroe’s.

One of my favorite things to do at lunches with my ma and sis is get champagne. But I can’t do that for another 22 days…

Soooo… I had to settle for sparkling water!I felt fancy with it in a wine glass, at least!

For lunch, I very politely asked our waitress for a few eliminations and substitutions.

I ordered the Cobb salad with no bacon or blue cheese (☹️), but added Kalamata olives and had oil & vinegar for dressing. I didn’t miss a thing.

**Side Note! Don’t be afraid to ask your server to make adjustments! Just be polite and they’re happy to accommodate you. Maybe throw them a bigger tip 😝 you don’t want to throw away all of your hard work with one meal! It can be avoided!**

We had a lovely lunch and enjoyed each other’s company. By the time we left, it was about 5:30pm. I was happy and full of food, but super tired.

Flash forward to right now, I’m already laying in bed about to watch this week’s episode of “This Is Us”.

  1. Haha yeah! I was so annoyed! Poor turtle.
    And asking for substitutions is hard sometimes- especially if your server gives ya a weird look! Haha ♥️♥️ thanks for reading.
