WHOLE30 Mocktail Party! – Days 16 & 17

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all the Irish folks out there! πŸ€

So, I’m here to tell you that it’s possible to have a “Mocktail Party”, hors d’oeuvres and all on the WHOLE30.

My mom and I went to glorious Costco on Friday, which, I have to tell ya… it’s really not that fun when you can’t try all the samples!

We got to try 2 things.

Tilapia cooked in olive oil. 🐟

Salmon cooked in olive oil. 🐟🐟

Yup, that means I had to casually walk past the danish they were cutting in extra large pieces that day and the fresh mozzarella 😰

Oh! And I forgot about the dry roasted almond I got to sample. Because the good Lord knows I haven’t had enough of those these past 17 days! Still ate em.


Anywho… we were on our way home and my mom had the great idea to make it a fun Friday night, complete with homemade compliant appetizers a game of cards!

So I called Matt and he met us back at my parents’ house.

Instead of our typical delightful red wine, we put our sparkling water in wine glasses with fresh lemons and limes. πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ classy, right?

At Costco, we got some mangos and pineapple, because my mom had a brilliant idea!

Chicken lettuce wraps with a mango pineapple jalapeΓ±o salsa!

The perfect amount of heat and sweet!

She had a few more tricks up her sleeve.

Some cooked shrimp with olive oil, garlic and herbs…

So good.

Then came the stuffed mushrooms… I’m not kidding, guys- these were so good!!

With spinach, pimentos and diced prosciutto!

Not to mention a delicious homemade balsamic reduction as well.

And last, but certainly not least, as this was my personal favorite…

She cooked up a strip steak to absolute med-rare perfection, sliced it thinly, then instead of putting it on top of crusty bread, she made crispy potato slices.

With caramelized onions on top.

And that is how a WHOLE30 get together is done.

We all felt pretty full (lots of left overs), but not one of us felt bloated or had heartburn. Amazing.


Don’t let your diet and food choices change or ruin your social life! It’s okay to eat healthy. It’s okay to eat based on your gut and body. It’s okay to opt for water instead of alcohol.

I know it sounds silly, but don’t let anyone ruin your progress or pressure you into “eating like everyone else”. We’ve all experienced that, but here’s the funny thing…

They’re not the ones who have to sit on the toilet all night πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
